Stig Slørdahl, MD

Dr. Stig Slørdahl, MD is a member of the EXCITE International Payers' Advisory Committee.

Stig A. Slørdahl (1959) is CEO of The Central Norway Regional Health Authority (2015-). He is former dean of the Faculty of Medicine (2005-2015), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim.

Slørdahl is a member of the board of UiT- The Arctic University of Norway (2017-2021) and chair of the Decision Forum that makes decisions whether to introduce a new method or not in Norway (The National System for Managed Introduction of New Health Technologies within the Specialist Health Service in Norway) (2018-)

Slørdahl is a MD (1985) with a doctoral degree, (1992). He became an associate professor of cardiovascular physiology at NTNU in 1995. Slørdahl is a board certified specialist in internal medicine since 1998 and in cardiology since 2000, and a professor since 2002. He was Head of Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging at NTNU 2002-2005.

Slørdahl’s research background is in cardiac ultrasound (including a centre for research-based innovation in medical imaging), stroke units and physical training of cardiac patients. He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (from 2002) and a member of The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (from 2009).

Slørdahl was chair of The Joint Committee of the Nordic Medical Research Councils (NOS-M) 2010-2012 (member 2005-2017) and member of European Medical Research Councils Core Group 2009-2012. 2013-2015 he was chair of the Scientific Review Group for the Biomedical Sciences in European Science Foundation. He was a member of the board of Division for Science (2007-2015) at The Research Council of Norway. He was also member of the board of SINTEF (the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia) 2009-2015.
