Dr. McCauley is an independent healthcare consultant for projects relating to clinical leadership and medical management.


Dr. McCauley is currently an independent healthcare consultant for projects relating to clinical leadership and medical management, including medical and reimbursement policy development, clinical evidence and new technology assessment, clinical coding education, payment integrity, value-based reimbursement, advanced care delivery, and virtual care models. Recent clients have included payers, device and pharma industry, investment funds, and physician organizations. She is a current member of the AMA CPT Editorial Panel, is a certified professional coder (CPC), and is an Assistant Consulting Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University School of Medicine.

Prior to her independent work, she was an AVP/Senior Medical Director for Provider Reimbursement and Payment Integrity at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC), where she was responsible for opportunity assessment and creation of payment policy, clinical evaluation of claims editing, implementation of policy in collaboration with the Payment Integrity team, and senior leadership of the clinical post service claims review team (“Medical Review”).
