Offering his expertise to the EXCITE International Advisory Council, Peter leads the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) which is the largest industry association in the UK for medical technology.
Peter leads the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) which is the largest industry association in the UK for medical technology. The ABHI represents approximately two thirds of this industry and continually works to advance access to medical technology.
Domestically, Peter is heavily embedded in a number of government work streams - he currently leads the industry Secretariat for the formal government engagement mechanism, the Ministerial Medical Technology Strategy Group (MMTSG), he jointly chairs NHS England’s MedTech and Diagnostics Board, he is a member of the board for the governments HealthTech and Medicines Knowledge Transfer Network.
From the inception of the Academic Health Science Networks (AHSN’s), Peter has been heavily involved. He has been involved in scoping their remit and sat on the appointment board. He has been interim Chair of the Greater Manchester AHSN and is currently directly involved with South London and Oxford AHSNs.
In 2014, Peter chaired the Health Economy work stream of the London Health Commission, established by the Mayor of London and Lord Ara Darzi and in 2013/14 was the Chair of the NHS Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) that helps connect public sector challenges with innovative ideas from industry. In addition to these Peter has held positions on a vast number of cross government, NHS and Industry Initiatives and as Vice Chair of the Thackery Medical Museum he was able to develop the story of our industry with the public.
